Municipal Council of Caracas celebrates the International Day of the Deaf and Sign Language

The Municipal Council of Caracas held a special session on the occasion of the International Day of Sign Languages ​​and the International Day of the Deaf.

Councilman Armando Graterol said: “We are celebrating the International Day of the Deaf and Sign Language.” He stressed that through an agreement published in the Municipal Gazette, “we acknowledge the efforts of the National Government.”

Graterol stressed that Commander Hugo Chávez made visible this population with some kind of disability, “and we from the government structure do not talk about a hearing disability, but how they want to call themselves deaf.”

In the activity, 23 awards were given as part of the inclusion policies for this community.

With this act, the municipal instance values ​​the deaf and the promotion of sign language developed by the National Government.
