Iker Muniain has swapped Athletic’s number 10 for San Lorenzo’s number 80. The former captain of the Bilbao team has just been officially presented as a player of the historic Argentine club. The presence of the Navarrese has aroused great media interest in Argentina.

“The number is just anecdotal. There weren’t many available. I liked 80 and I hope to have success with this number,” said Muniain in relation to his new jersey number.

The Navarrese footballer has insisted throughout his multitudinous press conference on his decision to join San Lorenzo: “Everyone told me very nice things about this club and I have followed Argentine football for many years. San Lorenzo is one of the greats. Everyone gave me many good references about its people, its fans and the passion with which it lives football. That reaffirms to me that it was the right decision.”

Muniain completed his first training session with his new teammates before appearing before the press and made it clear that he is fit to make his debut next Saturday if Romagnoli, the San Lorenzo manager, deems it appropriate.
