The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, described this Thursday, August 15, during his weekly press conference that the parallel decentralization of the previous administration was a real disaster. Mulino revealed that, three weeks ago, he met with Roxana Méndez, Director of the National Decentralization Authority, to discuss his findings. According to the information provided, the President indicated that 320 million dollars were wasted in the program between 2021 and 2024.
Mulino stressed that, of the 680 district representatives who received these funds, 500 were not re-elected. In addition, he asked Méndez to give these elected and non-re-elected representatives a period of 60 days to support their claims about how these resources were used.
The President also noted that there is no information available on decentralization in the Presidency and informed the Attorney General, Javier Caraballo, that the related data has been deleted.
