Mukumbarí cable car in Mérida reactivated 100% of its operation

Part of the facilities were inactive since 2020. The longest and highest cable car in the world already has all five stations in operation


Ali Padrón, Minister of Tourism. reported that the Pico Espejo station has already started operations, the last station which will allow 100% operation of the Mukumbarí Cable Car System (STM).

In the company of regional and municipal authorities, from the Barinitas station, Padrón formally delivered the Mukumbarí Cable Car System (STM), “the longest and highest in the world for those who love this city to have the privilege of visiting it.”

He explained that since August 31, 2022, the activation of the first section Barinitas – La Montaña began, in the month of October; the second section, La Montaña – La Aguada, December 2022; the third section, La Aguada – Loma Redonda, and this Thursday, March 9, the fourth section, Loma Redonda – Pico Espejo, complying with the delivery schedules of the five stations and four sections that comprise the STM.

He highlighted that the Mukumbarí Cable Car System has registered the visit of 19,688 users between January 1 and March 5, 2023. He stated that it has benefited 4,102 people, including older adults and children from distant and vulnerable communities, free of charge.
