Mujica participated in San José in the closing of the activity carried out by the Broad Front throughout the country called: “The FA Listens to you.”
In this framework, he said that “there is a struggle of interests in society that must be managed and seek a balance.”
He stressed that there must be courage for the investor and to risk it, but the government also has to “push for it to be distributed because otherwise it will not be distributed and that is the big difference.”
Mujica quoted Carlos Quijano (lawyer and left-wing politician, founder of the weekly Marcha) in reference to the fact that “government is choosing solutions that favor some and harm others”, and remarked that it is impossible to be right with God and with the devil, but You have to balance as much as you can.
Increased salaries and pensions
“Surely we made mistakes, but during the 15 years of the front-affiliated governments, salaries rose a few more points and, above all, the most submerged salaries,” Mujica remarked.
He said that the coronavirus pandemic came and now the government says that “they are going to tie by 2024”, but reiterated that “15 years of successive salary increases have passed, especially salaries and pensions have improved much more depressed”.
He recalled that in Uruguay pensions are tied to the evolution of wages, and pointed out that “how the cake is distributed is the center of the difference.”
