At Disney they are also celebrating this year. The celebrations for the centenary of 2023 are now joined in 2024 by the 30th anniversary of the premiere of “The Lion King”, with the premiere of “Mufasa: The Lion King.”

This feature film promises to expand and deepen the universe of the animated classic released in 1994. This film seeks to explore new aspects of the story, with a focus on the origins of the beloved character of Mufasa.

The plot works like a prequel, where Rafiki tells the legend of Mufasa to Kiarathe daughter of Simba and Nala. Through flashbacks, viewers will learn about the origins of an orphaned and lonely puppy, who, after an encounter with Takaa lion of royal lineage, begins a journey that will transform his destiny.

The film, with an aesthetic that evokes the realism of the 2019 remake, is directed by Barry Jenkinswinner of oscar by moonlight (moonlight – 2016). On the other hand, the cast is made up of Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge, The Morning Show), Kelvin Harrison Jr. (It comes at night), Braelyn Rankins (Lady and the Tramp, Christmas in 8 Bits) and Seth Rogen (This is the end, good neighbors).
