The president of the Municipal Council of Santa Cruz, Silvana Mucarzel, announced that will file criminal action against deputy Rolando Cuéllar (MAS) after accusations of an alleged overpricing in the purchase of computers for the Council. Mucarzel described the complaints as false and assured that they are part of an alleged plan to discredit her management and remove her from the presidency of the Council.
“This gentleman He wanted to defame me and I’m not going to allow it. We have all the documentation and we will demonstrate that their accusations are unfounded,” Mucarzel declared at a press conference with his lawyer Arturo Heredia.
Cuéllar stated that the 38 laptops purchased by the Municipal Council cost Bs 6,291 each, when their real price would be Bs 4,359, which would represent a surcharge of more than Bs 73,000. However, Heredia explained that the overpricing reported by Cuéllar corresponds to the management of Gabriela Garzón.
“Before, only 15 computers were purchased with the same budget and of lower quality. Today more efficient and modern equipment was purchased,” he explained.
In that sense, on Monday they will formalize legal actions against Deputy Cuéllar, who, according to the president’s lawyer, has been used by Mayor Jhonny Fernández to discredit Mucarzel and stop his efforts to defend the interests of Santa Cruz.
“It is clear that this seeks to intimidate her, for being a woman who has defended the pockets of the people of Santa Cruz.” and has supervised the irregularities of the municipality,” added Heredia.
For his part, Mucarzel assured that he will continue his supervisory work and will not allow his name to be tarnished. “When one works with truth and honesty, there are no tricks that can prevail. These accusations will not be able to remove me from this seat,” he said.
