To improve air connectivity in the country, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC), promotes a project for the construction of the first airport in the department of Huancavelica, infrastructure that will benefit to about 350 thousand inhabitants.

The Minister of Transport and Communications, Raúl Pérez Reyes, reported that The good Pro has just been granted for the elaboration of the preinversion study at the profile level. The signing of the contract with the winning company is expected to be completed in March 2025.
According to the schedule, the elaboration of the profile will begin in the second quarter of this year. This airport will have the ability to receive commercial flights, which will facilitate the connection of Huancavelica with the rest of the country, will boost tourism, generate new jobs and contribute to the economic development of the region.
Once the air terminal is over, Citizens of Huancavelica will no longer have to travel for more than 11 hours by land to reach the capital or other regions of the country.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications reported that it will continue working to expedite the execution of the first airport in Huancavelica.
