The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) appointed Jhony Eduardo Bautista Mejía as the new executive director of the Special Project for National Transport Infrastructure-Provías Nacional.
The decision was formalized with the publication of the ministerial resolution 239-2022-MTC/01 in an extraordinary bulletin of legal regulations on Thursday, March 31, which bears the signature of Minister Nicolás Bustamante Coronado.
Bautista Mejía had been serving as head of the Cabinet of Advisors of the MTC ministerial office since February 18 of this year, when he was appointed by then-minister Juan Francisco Silva.
With his appointment, he will replace his predecessor, Jorge Roberto Ñanue Sivirichi, in the vacant position, also appointed during the administration of former Minister Silva since September 28, 2021.
Congress will investigate Provías Nacional
It should be remembered that this Thursday, the plenary session of Congress approved by majority the creation of a multi-party commission to investigate the companies of the so-called “Chinese Construction Club” and the officials and former officials with whom they would have signed contracts to allegedly win tenders irregularly. in the State, from 2018 onwards.
The proposal includes investigating all public tenders and works contracts called by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Provías Nacional, Provìas Decentralizado, regional and local governments.
Likewise, the analysis of the selection that contains the elaboration of the terms of reference, the actions of the OSCE and the officials of the Executive Power and their relations with bidders and contractors of Chinese companies in order to determine the alleged irregularities and responsibilities.
