The Peruvian air market continues to position itself as one of the most attractive in the region for the arrival of new airlines and the expansion of international operations, stated the Minister of Transport and Communications, Aldo Prieto, when reporting that the country is holding advanced conversations with six companies such as Fly Level, Turkish Airlines, Emirates and the Lufthansa Group.
“The Fly Level airline plans to begin operations with the opening of the Barcelona–Lima–Barcelona route, which will strengthen direct connectivity between Peru and Europe, expanding options for passengers, tourism and commerce,” he stated.
Likewise, he stressed that the collection of the TUUA for international transfers in the Jorge Chavez International Airport has not affected the appetite of new airlines to operate or expand in the country. As an example of this, he highlighted that Copa Airlines has planned to increase up to 49 weekly frequencies from January 2026, and has expressed its interest in continuing to expand its presence in the Peruvian market.
Added to this is that Air France will increase the frequency of its flights on the Paris–Lima route, going from 7 to 10 weekly flights starting in June 2026, while commercial delegations and exploratory missions evaluate new opportunities for air connectivity with Peru.
The minister also highlighted that, in this month of December, new international routes have been inaugurated such as Lima-Iguazú, operated by Flybondi, as well as direct flights to Toronto and Montreal with Air Canada, and Salt Lake City with Delta Airlines, consolidating the country as an increasingly competitive regional hub.
“Each new air frequency generates around 300 direct, indirect and induced jobs, boosting the economy, strengthening tourism and creating greater opportunities for Peruvians,” said the head of the MTC.
It is worth remembering that the sector has been modernizing airport infrastructure in regions, thanks to the transfer TUUA remuneration fund. An example is the project for
