MSP reports the discovery of the first imported case of monkeypox in Uruguay

The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) reported the discovery of the first imported case of monkeypox in Montevideo. The confirmation was carried out using the PCR technique and is the only one in the country. The infected person, who was traveling in recent days, is “stable and in isolation.”

Following the line of PAHO/WHO recommendations, the MSP began the identification and follow-up of all the contacts of the infected patient by the Health Surveillance department team, the ministry reported.

So far no new suspected cases have been identified in relation to this. The MSP reminds the population that when faced with symptoms related to monkeypox, people should consult their health provider.
