Puerto Plata. – The Public Ministry requested 18 months of preventive detention as a measure of coercion against the alleged members of a network dedicated to the sexual exploitation of women in a nightlife center in this province.
The petition was presented by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office Against Illicit Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking (PETT), in coordination with the Puerto Plata Prosecutor’s Officebefore the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services. Furthermore, the prosecuting body required that the case was declared complex processing.
The accused are Rocío Nicole Paulino, known as “Mamasan” ; Vanesa Sirete of Ventura; Medelyn Torch Francisco Cortés and Luis Carlos Céspedes Herrera. A woman identified as part of the structure remains at large.
During the operatives, authorities rescued to 20 women who were allegedly victims of sexual exploitation.
The interventions They were held at the nightclub Keobs Night Club located on Las Palomas Street; in the building Charles III in the Cerros del Atlántico sector, and in a hotel in Puerto Plata.
The arrests occur during all the analyzes carried out by the Specialized Joint Investigation Unit Against Illicit Trafficking of Migrants and Related Crimes (Uitimc) attached to the PETT, in coordination with the Directorate of Persecution of Public Ministry, the Puerto Plata Prosecutor’s Office and the Special Division for Investigation of Transnational Crimes (Deidet) of the National Police.
According to the Public Ministry, The network recruited Dominican, Haitian and Colombian women through deception and taking advantage of their vulnerable situation.
The victims were held in the establishments under strict rulesfines and constant surveillance, with restriction of their freedom, and were sexually exploited systematically in rooms enabled for these fines.
