MP requested arrest warrants against alleged attackers of deputy Inacio Da Costa

Prosecutors will investigate alleged assault at UCV against deputy Inacio Da Costa

Tarek William Saab indicated that arrest warrants were requested against the alleged attackers of deputy Inacio Da Costa

The prosecutor appointed by the now defunct constituent assembly, Tarek William Saab, reported on the night of Monday, July 22, that arrest warrants were requested against the alleged members of the political organization Vente Venezuela who had allegedly attacked the deputy of the 2020 National Assembly Inacio Da Costa at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) in recent days.

Through their social networks, Saab indicated that through the 9th National Prosecutor’s Office specialized in Homicides and Serious Crimes, the proceedings were taken to issue arrest warrants against citizens Anthony Vega, Jhon Álvarez and Eleyn Echarry for the alleged commission of the crimes of attempted qualified homicide, personal injuries and ganging against Inacio Da Costa and Adrianlis Gil, the parliamentarian’s girlfriend.

He also said that the basis of the complaint filed by the legislator regarding an alleged attempted murder against him had been expanded, while explaining that the victims were sent to the forensic medical service in order to evaluate them and record the injuries inflicted.

Saab said it was confirmed that Vega had been convicted of crimes of vehicle theft, illegal possession of a firearm and various injuries.

Inacio Da Costa, on the night of Friday, July 19, made a thread in his X account where he claims to have been the victim of an alleged assault by the campaign team of candidate Edmundo González Urrutia and by Anthony Vega, who is accused of being a member of Vente Venezuela.

He explained that he was at his girlfriend’s graduation at UCV and, when he went to the parking lot, he was accosted by Vega, who smashed a bottle over his head. Then, five more people and a woman approached. While he was trying to take care of his girlfriend, Da Costa said that he was insulted by these individuals with epithets such as “collaborationist, chavista and divisive.”

One student was reportedly injured while trying to calm things down.

Then, “many students interceded in our defense and an unidentified individual took out a firearm from a burgundy Chevrolet Spark model car and pointed it at several students while the gang members ran to the car to flee due to the pressure,” he wrote on his social networks.

Subsequently, Tarek William Saab commissioned the 9th Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the subjects identified as Anthony Vega, Jhon Álvarez, Erick Rosa and Eleyn Echarry, who allegedly attacked Deputy Da Costa with a bottle, causing injuries to various parts of his body.
