This Wednesday (18), the Public Ministry denounced 20 members of the organized fan base Mancha Alvi Verde, from Palmeiras, who were involved in the attack on two buses of Cruzeiro fans. The ambush, as the Civil Police have called the episode, took place on November 27th on Rodovia Fernão Dias, in Mairiporã, in Greater São Paulo, and resulted in the death of a member from the Mafia Azul fans, from Cruzeiro.
The death of José Vitor Miranda dos Santos, reported the Public Ministry, was caused by traumatic brain injury, as a result of blows inflicted with a blunt instrument.
According to the Public Ministry, the fans who were reported today assumed “the risk of a homicidal outcome, for a base reason, using cruel means and means that could result in common danger, and through a resource that made the victim’s defense difficult” . Therefore, members of the Public Prosecutor’s Office requested the preventive detention of all those accused, arguing that “when released, those accused will undoubtedly plan new crimes against fans of the rival club, putting the entire society at risk”.
The attack occurred when fans from Minas Gerais were returning to Belo Horizonte, after a game against Athletico Paranaense, in Curitiba. On that occasion, one of the buses with Cruzeiro fans was set on fire and the other was vandalized. In addition to the fan who died, others were injured. According to the police, iron bars, pieces of wood, fireworks and firecrackers were seized at the scene.
So far, 15 people suspected of involvement in the ambush have been arrested by the police.
