VILLA ALTAGRACIA .- The Public Ministry concluded this Friday afternoon with the presentation of the accusation and the evidence against the nine members of the National Police implicated in the shooting death of the religious couple who He was traveling in a car on the Duarte highway in March of last year.

The file involves César Maríñez Lora, Guillermo Rosario Melo, Emil Alexander Rincón Martes, Victorino Reyes Navarro, Domingo Perdomo Reyes, Norquis Rodríguez Jiménez, Ángel de los Santos, Anthony Castro Pérez and Juan Samuel Ogando Solís.

The interim prosecutor of Villa Altagracia, Dalma Díaz, and the inspector Nancy Ovalle presented before the judge of the Instruction Kenty Nuesi different documentary, expert, material and audiovisual evidence with which the accusing body seeks to send the accused to trial.

The group is serving preventive detention in different prisons in the country for being involved in the deaths of the husband and wife Elisa Muñoz Marte, 32 years old, and Joel Eusebio Díaz Ferrer, 35 years old, due to several shots, and for attempting to murder against his companions Claudio Alberto Ramírez Lamais and Carlos José Pérez Báez.

The incident occurred on March 30, 2021, around 10:50 p.m., when the victims were traveling on board the Kia brand vehicle, model K5, white, on the Duarte Highway, at the level of Kilometer 45, after having participated in a religious event in Los Ganchos, in the municipality of Villa Altagracia.

The spouses Díaz Ferrer and Muñoz Marte died of multiple injuries, while Ramírez Lamais was injured and Carlos Pérez Báez was unharmed.

The accusation details that on that night, the defendant Maríñez Lora, after hearing through the National Police radio communication that the occupants of a white Hyundai car had committed several robberies in the Bonao municipality and that they were traveling In the direction of Santo Domingo, he went to kilometer 45, together with the accused Reyes Navarro, De los Santos, Rosario Melo (who was not on duty) and Rincón Martes.

It specifies that a few minutes later two motorized units arrived at the scene, made up of Domingo Perdomo Reyes, Norquis Rodríguez, Juan Samuel Ogando Solís and Anthony Castro.

The prosecution body indicates that the defendants improvised a checkpoint and blocked the road in order to stop the vehicles that were moving north-south. Under these circumstances, when noticing the arrival of the spouses’ white Kia, they fired bursts of fire with weapons of various calibers and from different directions, without prior inspection of the car and its occupants.

The conduct of the accused, as established in the file, constitutes the criminal type provided for and sanctioned in articles 2, 265, 266, 295, 296, 297 and 302 of the Dominican Penal Code and article 66 of Law 631-16, for the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition and Related Materials.

The Public Ministry began last Tuesday with the presentation of the documentary evidence and the expert reports, concluding this Friday afternoon with the presentation of the material and audiovisual evidence.

The court suspended the preliminary hearing until next Wednesday, October 12, at 10:00 in the morning, when the defendants’ lawyers must present their arguments and refer to the evidence provided by the Public Ministry.
