75% of mobile phone users in the country, who group Movistar and Digitel, will have to pay new prices to maintain the monthly rents of their plans
The Venezuelan population received the new year, and with it, new bills for the services they pay monthly. In the case of mobile telephony, the operators available in the country increased their rates in recent weeks.
Both Digitel and Movistar, which provide service to 75% of the population according to Conatel statistics, renewed their plans and rates for the new year, largely due to adjustments due to the devaluation of the bolivar, because unlike other goods and services in the country, prices continue to be reflected in national currency.
In the case of Movistar, El Pitazo reported that the plans increased slightly in the first week of January. The most requested plan, Movistar Plus 4 GB, went from Bs 38.28 to Bs 41.76; while the most expensive for individuals, the Movistar Plus 10 GB increased from Bs 95.99 to Bs 104.69.
On the other hand, the purchase of browsing data through the “extra data” option also increased in price. The purchase of 1 GB rose from Bs 12.18 at the beginning of December to Bs 18.56, while that of 4 GB went from Bs 48.72 to Bs 73.66.
Finally, the minimum recharge amount increased. For those who top up their balance through banking platforms, the minimum payment is Bs 13.
Despite the change, when converting the new prices to dollars according to the official exchange rate published by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), the rates maintain similar prices.
In the case of Digitel, the update of its plans had a similar behavior in the course of a month. At the beginning of December, the Intelligent Plus 2 GB plan had a price of Bs 26.50 and now it has risen to Bs 32.77.
The Radicall Plus plan rose from Bs 4.50 to Bs 5.50 and the Intelligent Plus 1.1 from Bs 14.50 to Bs 18.02. As with Movistar, when converting to dollars, the rates remain quite similar to the prices at the beginning of December.
Digitel customers did not experience a change in their recharges, since as in December, the minimum payment to recharge balance through banking platforms is Bs 15.
