THE Mayor Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB) praised the signaling of a possible meeting between Presidents Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Donald Trump of the United States.
In an interview on Tuesday (23) before the meeting of party leaders in Brasilia, Motta said he was always an advocate of dialogue and diplomacy to overcome the impasse between the two countries after Trump’s tariff and sanctions to Brazilian and family authorities.
“I always argue that the Brazilian government, in dialogue with the US government, can resolve doubts, being able to leave this issue of tariffs, sanctions so that the relationship between the two countries can be resumed,” he said.
Motta’s demonstration was made after Trump stated, in a speech at the United Nations Assembly, that Want to talk to Lula next week. The President of the United States praised the Brazilian Head of State calling him “very pleasant man”, with whom he had “excellent chemistry” for a brief meeting.
Before, Lula made the opening speech of the Assembly and criticized the unilateral sanctions of the United States stating that the world watches the increased authoritarianism. Lula also said that “Our democracy and our sovereignty are non -negotiable”.
Motta said he hoped the meeting could help resolve the impasse involving the two nations, “which have historical relations of hundreds of years.”
“Always arguing that Brazil has strong institutions, has a strong democracy and that our sovereignty is not under discussion, as President Lula did today in his UN speech and I trust that, through dialogue, diplomacy, this situation can be resolved.”
Amnesty
Asked about the voting of the bill that deals with amnesty those involved in the scammer acts of January 8, 2023, Motta said that the rapporteur, federal deputy Paulinho da Força (Solidarity-SP), is still looking for party leaders to discuss the proposal.
Bolsonaro’s allies argue that the amnesty also reaches the former president, sentenced by the Supreme Court (STF) to more than 27 years in prison, but Paulinho has said that a General and unrestricted amnesty would be impossible.
The proposal may lose strength and the camera was more pressed after the Demonstrations of last Sunday (21), held throughout the country, against the project A also the so -called PEC of Armagem.
“We have a named rapporteur who seems to me that they are looking for the leaders to talk a possible text and only after these conversations will we define about the agenda of this subject,” said Motta.
