The general coordinator of the Movement of Health Workers (Motrasalud) and prevention delegate of the Luis Razetti hospital in Barcelona, Edisson Hernández, explained this Monday, April 10, the conditions in which they work in the emergency of this health center due to the lack of air conditioning that they have had for about a year.
“Here what is reigning are bacteria and heat illnesses. That is the harsh reality. The doctors are taking their fans and the family members are also taking them to all the emergency areas and even so, the heat is unbearable, because they are confined spaces that do not have ventilation, which are so that they have air conditioning running 24 hours a day to minimize bacteria and disease,” he said.
In Hernández’s opinion, there may be two reasons why the cooling system is not operating in this part of the hospital: “Either the air conditioners are damaged or they do not turn on due to the filtration problem, so that the ceilings do not finish to fall There are areas in the emergency where the roofs are already falling off again, “he assured.
The leader urged the authorities to provide help so that the staff of doctors, nurses, waitresses, orderlies and patients remain in an optimal environment.
