During a traffic control operation in the municipality of Floridablanca, Santander, a serious incident occurred when a motorcyclist tried to evade the checkpoint, which caused him to attack an agent of the Bucaramanga Traffic Police.
The event occurred in the vicinity of the Álvaro Gómez Hurtado stadium, while several journalists were covering the day, which was part of the call for car-free day, promoted by the Floridablanca Traffic and Transportation Directorate.
The motorcyclist, upon noticing the presence of the checkpoint, tried to escape, but in his maneuver he lost control and ended up running over one of the agents participating in the operation.
Both the motorcycle driver and the police officer were injured and were treated at the scene by emergency personnel.
The accident has generated great concern, since the event had a pedagogical focus to promote awareness in new generations about the importance of using alternative means of transportation and reducing pollution.
