Motorcycle production at the Manaus Industrial Hub (PIM) registered 163,960 units manufactured in August, the best performance for the month since 2012, and an amount 11.4% higher than that recorded in July. In the year, production reached 1,179,161 motorcycles, 12.1% above that recorded in the same period in 2023.
Bicycle production, also in the industrial hub, totaled 33,452 units in August, 17% above July’s production.
In the year to date, from January to August, 245,421 bicycles left the assembly lines, although this number was 29.2% lower compared to the same period in 2023. The information is from the Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Motorcycles, Mopeds, Scooters, Bicycles and Similar (Abraciclo).
In a statement, Abraciclo reports that the market for motorcycle purchases remains buoyant, especially low-displacement models that are more economical; prices are more accessible both for people buying their first motorcycle and for those changing models.
In August, registrations totaled 163,929 units, 4.5% more than in July and 14.8% compared to August 2023. This was the best result for the month in the last 13 years. The average daily sales were 7,451 units, with emphasis on low-displacement motorcycles, which hold a 78.9% market share.
Drought
The president of Abraciclo, Marcos Bento, said that the factories in the Manaus Industrial Hub are aware of the effects of the drought that is affecting the region and the moment demands attention from producers.
“Companies are taking preventive measures to ensure supply to production lines. In addition, other logistical alternatives for receiving inputs and transporting products are being implemented. The goal is to minimize any future impacts due to low river levels,” he explained.
