Motorcycle patenting in February reached a total of 36,226 units, with a increase of 41.74% compared to the same month of 2021 and 2.5% compared to January, according to the report of the Chamber of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Cafam).
In the same sense, and with a previous closure of operations, the Association of Automotive Dealers (To face) revealed that the month reached a total of 34,022 units, with an increase of 37.4% compared to the same month of 2021 and 1.5% compared to January.
In the first two months, according to Acara, the number of patented motorcycles amounted to 67,532 vehicles, 26.6% more than in the same period last year, when 53,352 cases had been registered.
For Cafam, so far this year, 71,546 units were patented during the first two months, which represents a 30% year-on-year increase.
“February was another month of growth for motorcycles and it seems that the behavior of the market will continue to rise steadily,” said the president of Acara, Ricardo Salomé.
The director recognized “the problem of imports both in units and also in the import of parts”, but despite this he stressed that “the sale of motorcycles continues to take hold and grow”.
This improvement, he assured, is based on “the need to use the motorcycle as a means of transport in more and more provinces and cities, in the case of the smallest units, but also in those of the middle segment, because the motorcycle is also is using for trips and transfers of many kilometers”.
For his part, the president of Cafam, Lino Stefanuto, considered “very important the joint work that has been done with the partners, to continue giving impetus to the sector, and thus achieve a progressive, intelligent and sustained national integration; key for the national industry”.
Both directors highlighted the central role that financing has in this sector, for which they valued the continuity, together with the Government, of the financing program of Banco Nación, Mi Moto.
Honda continued to lead the market with 7,037 units, followed by Motomel, which with 4,742 continued in second place, although with the novelty that Corven, with 4,483 units, managed to regain its historic third place after Gilera, now fourth with 4,358, he had taken it off in January.
In February, small displacement motorcycles continued to be the best sellers: with 19,482 110 cc and 5,224 150 cc patented units. And as for the categories, it widely leads the ranking of the best sellers of the month: the CUB with 21,161 units, followed by the STREET with 7,756 units.
Lastly, the regional classification once again showed the province of Buenos Aires in first place, with 30.8% of the month’s registrations, followed by Santa Fe (12.5%), Córdoba (9.6%). , Chaco (5.1%), Tucumán (4.6%) and the City of Buenos Aires and Salta (4% in each case).
