Mother will pay 19 years for the death of her son in Tocorón

The 4th Trial Court of Aragua issued a sentence of 19 years and 8 months in prison against Karelys Grymayry Arcila Montilla (27), who was found guilty of the death of her one-year-old son, who was beaten and abused inside the Center Aragua Penitentiary, located in stump.

According to the report of the Public Ministry, on December 11, 2022, the woman entered the prison with her one-year-old son. She was going to visit her partner who is serving a sentence for aggravated robbery.

At some point during the visit, the woman went out into a jail cellar. Upon returning, she observed that the child was not moving and had an injury to one of her eyes. From there she took him to the San Francisco de Asís (Aragua) outpatient clinic where she was admitted without vital signs.

The autopsy revealed that the minor died due to hemorrhage from head trauma. The baby’s mother was criminally prosecuted for the crime of qualified intentional homicide.

The 4th Trial Court issued the sentence and set the Aragua Penitentiary Center, the prison where the events occurred, as the place of detention for the woman, the Prosecutor’s Office reported.

The Aragua Penitentiary Center is one of the five Venezuelan prisons that do not have the so-called new regime, based on discipline, study and work, as explained at the time by then-minister Iris Varela.

A criminal structure operates from that prison that organizes kidnappings and assassinations, which are executed by associated cells present in Aragua and Carabobo, according to investigations.

Pran de Tocoron

Last year the Public Prosecutor’s Office reported through the voice of its head Tarek William Saab that the pran of the aforementioned prison collected 5,000 dollars to provide the hitmen who later murdered the Professor Carlos Lanzevent occurred on 8/8/20.

Two years after that fact, the attorney general, Tarek William Saab, revealed details of that murder, for which Lanz’s wife, his daughter and stepdaughter, among others, were convicted.

Kidnapper sentenced

The 1st Trial Court of Monagas issued a sentence of 28 years and 25 days in prison against Yonxire Romero Laponte for his participation in the kidnapping of a woman and her one-year-old son, the Public Ministry reported.

According to the investigation, the event occurred in Maturín (Monagas) on September 10, 2019 when the victim and her firstborn were forcibly taken from their home by a group of armed men. Once the complaint was filed, agents from the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command raided a house and rescued the woman, a girl and four adolescents.
