Mother of slain Air Force lieutenant asks for justice

There is no pain deeper than the loss of a child, and that suffering has hit Mrs. Niobe Chalas Tejedamother of the second lieutenant of the Air Force, Junior Welcome Reyes Chalaswho was killed while sharing in front of his residence in the Hainamosa sector, Santo Domingo Este.

After witnessing his son’s coffin leave for the Christ the Savior Cemeterywhere he would be buried, Niobe expressed her heartbroken pain while holding a photo and a shirt that she keeps as a souvenir of him.

  • “Oh, those without families, oh my God, they don’t know the pain they leave a mother. I don’t even want them to be killed, because I don’t want to see another mother suffering like I’m suffering. Let them pay in jail,” he expressed through tears.

Niobe assured that her son was a good person and expressed her hope that those responsible would face justice.

Dozens of family and friends said their last goodbye to Reyes Chalas this Wednesday morning, in a ceremony in his honor in front of the funeral home located in the military facilities.

Yesterday, the National Police reported that they arrested two of the four involved in the case. One of those arrested is the FARD captain, Fraylin G. Pérez Camacho, while the other was identified as Estiven Herrera, alias “Wilito.”

According to the institution’s spokesperson, the two remaining fugitives are Tommy Antonio Ortiz, alias “Jonci the mechanic,” and another individual known as “El Gordo.”
