Mother of missing university student in Piura: “I want my beloved son to be returned to me”

Mother of missing university student in Piura: “I want my beloved son to be returned to me”

“Every day I beg God for my son to come back so I can hug him (…), I have a slight hope of seeing him again, I want my son to be returned to me,” says Yolanda Isabel Guerrero Guerrero, mother of UDEP Civil Engineering student Anthony Iván Camizán Guerrero (24 years old), crying and looking with indescribable sadness and pain at the photo of her son. He is the mother of him. This August 21st marks the second anniversary of his disappearance. The main suspect in his disappearance is an active-duty police officer.

The heartbroken mother, Yolanda Guerrero, told Correo that since that August 21, 2022, her heart has been broken into a thousand pieces, because the fourth of her five children never returned from his “trip” and day after day, on her knees, she begs God for her Anthony to return so she can hold him in her arms and never let him go again.

“He (Anthony) left the house and at 6:30 pm he called me and said: I’m already traveling, mommy (from Canchaque to Piura), and I never heard from him again, I called him the next day all day and his cell phone was already off,” Yolanda remembers.

The distraught mother says she still has a slight hope of finding him alive. “I have practically lost hope, there is no news of him, my heart tells me to wait, one day, we want to have peace. I ask God for a miracle that my Anthony returns, that he helps me find him, I don’t even dream of my son,” she adds.

He made a heartfelt appeal to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Police not to give up and to speed up the investigations so that those responsible pay for his disappearance.

“I ask the Prosecutor’s Office to help us because it’s been two years. We beg them to take our case. We can’t bear so much suffering any longer. I hope the police don’t cover up everything for the alleged perpetrator because he is also a police officer.”

She stressed that since Anthony’s disappearance, her family has been devastated and Christmas is no longer the same.

“My heart and life are no longer complete. For Christmas he always asked me for the chicken’s crotch. This August 25th my little boy would have turned 25,” she says with tears streaming down her face.

Crying and hugging her son’s photo, she begged PNP Warrant Officer Edixon Córdova to reveal where Anthony is. “If he hurt him, please tell the truth so we know where he left him, I beg you,” she added.

His older brother, Junior Camizán, who is leading the tireless search, also joined the call for the authorities to conclude the investigations at both the fiscal and police level, since there is several pieces of evidence that would directly incriminate officer Córdova in his disappearance. “There is evidence, videos, text messages, WhatsApp messages, Anthony’s clothes found in his room that the police officer rented in Canchaque, and to date the investigation has not been concluded. It has been almost two years since we heard anything about my brother,” Junior questioned.

He added that last Friday a new fiscal diligence was carried out to determine the geolocation of the areas that the police officer had traveled through.
