Elis Gil, mother of Vente Venezuela activist Javier Cisnero, reported that 24 hours have passed since their son’s arrest by alleged security agencies.
According to what Gil reported in a video posted on social networks, Cisnero was taken from his home. Furthermore, he pointed out that The family does not know who took the young man, because they wore hoods and traveled in private vehicles.
Arrest of Javier Cisnero
The mother explained that They put Javier Cisnero in a Ford Fiesta carafter having struggled with his 77-year-old grandmother to take him away.
Gil stated that the situation became more tense when the subjects returned to her house, two hours after the arrest, to look for her son’s cell phone that fell to the ground during the struggle, equipment that she discarded because it was damaged.
On the other hand, he explained that the young man suffers from tuberculosis, a disease that forced him not to leave his house since the end of December 2024. In addition, he mentioned that he requires daily and urgent medical treatment.
“My son urgently needs his medication (…) My son did not go out because everyone knows that tuberculosis is contagious.”, he stated.
In this sense, Gil demanded that the Venezuelan authorities report on the whereabouts of his son. “I demand that you tell me where he is.”
He also denounced that Javier Cisnero’s captors subject the family to “psychoterror.” She assured that they approach her residence, knock on her door, call her on the phone, “but they don’t tell me where my son is.”
Likewise, he defended that his son is an “impeccable man.” “Thinking differently does not make you a criminal. You are one of the millions of young people who think differently, who love your country,” he said.
The NGO Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners (Clipp) recalled this Friday that Cisnero had already been arrested in June 2024.
“This new detention, carried out with violence and without a court order, constitutes a serious violation of human rights, especially the right to personal freedom, physical integrity and health, and is part of a systematic pattern of persecution against young people and citizens of faith,” said the NGO.
