Havana Cuba. – The Cuban Evelyn Pineda Concepción denounced in an interview with CubaNet that his son, infected with HIV during childbirth due to medical negligenceyou’re not getting the care you need.
According to the young woman, after your last complaint before the cameras of this medium the Public Health authorities “made a paripé” to make him believe that they would begin to provide him with medical care.
“My son, due to those six months without antiretrovirals, is now suffering from a fairly high viral load; he is quite delicate. A six-year-old boy who only has eight hemoglobin, “he lamented.
After his complaints, this year the authorities transferred the minor to a consultation at the “William Soler” Children’s Hospital and promised to take care of his situation.
“The deputy director assisted me [del hospital]who promised me to take care of the child because he is an HIV patient and because he has not been treated at the IPK for three years [Instituto de Medicina Tropical Pedro Kourí]”.
“That was June 26. On the 27th, the viral load was done and they have never called me for a consultation with the child. Everything has been a paripé or another assembly of theirs”, denounces the interviewee, more than a month after the medical examination.
Pineda Concepción also explained that she tries to keep her little son indoors to prevent him from contracting any disease.
“At the medical post they told me that it was not safe for me to go to school due to this high viral load, but no one from school has come to see him or give him some homework either. He has no medical or school follow-up, ”he lamented.
Likewise, the opposition member of the Opposition Movement for a New Republic (MONR), criticized the island’s health system and recalled that everything that is happening with her son could be a reprisal from State Security.
In February 2021, Pineda Concepción reported that her son had been infected with HIV during childbirth due to alleged medical negligence at the Maternal and Child Hospital in the Guanabacoa municipality, popularly known as “La Fátima.”
Despite its case, the Cuban regime has insistently boasted since 2015 of having eliminated the transmission of HIV between mothers carrying the virus and their children.
In March 2022, the young woman also denounced “the odyssey” that she experienced due to the shortcomings of the Cuban Public Health system while suffering from bacterial pneumonia. After going several times to hospital institutions in search of medical assistance, she had to stand up in one of them to demand that they attend to her.
