The Iribarren Municipal Police (PMI) in the state of Lara (Barquisimeto), captured Dayana Yonaibeht Parra Betancourt and Yeison José Alvarado Atacho, mother and stepfather accused of committing cruel treatment and sexual abuse against two children aged 3 and 6 years.
The Council for the Protection of Boys, Girls and Adolescents and the organized community “19 de Abril”, located in the El Cují parish, carried out monitoring and intelligence work on the situation in which the infants lived.
It was learned that the Iribarrense mayor, Luis Jonás Reyes Flores, instructed the local police force to activate so as not to give a truce to child abuse.
Therefore, the arrest of the mother and stepfather of the children was achieved, whom Alvarado constantly assaulted, to the point of causing serious injuries, events that occurred in the presence of the mother, highlighted in an institutional bulletin issued this Tuesday, April 25.

Anarosa Sánchez, coordinator of the Council for the Protection of Children and Adolescents of the Iribarren municipality, revealed that “when talking with the children and observing the injuries from the abuse with the naked eye, immediately to protect their integrity, the Prosecutor’s Office 16 of the Public ministry”.
For the protection of the children, the aforementioned institution proceeded to issue, from the first report, a shelter measure in accordance with article 126 of the Organic Law for the Protection of Boys, Girls and Adolescents (Lopnna).
“Once both children were medically assessed, the protection measure was replaced, in accordance with 131 Lopnna in favor of the maternal grandmother,” explained Sánchez.

After the arrest, Parra and Alvarado were presented through the prosecutor’s office for the crimes of sexual abuse, cruel treatment in continued action and sexual abuse in the modality of commission by omission, as specified by the general director of the PMI, Orlando Gómez. .
Said police action was carried out by officials assigned to the Service Area No. 4 North Sector of the local police.
The protection authorities present in the case, which occurred in the northern zone in the Iribarren municipality, urged citizens to report in a timely manner and without fear, through the numbers 0414-5004104, 0424-6274496 and 0251-2550775.
Likewise, they reiterated their rejection of actions that put the lives of children and adolescents at risk.
