Morocco drew 1-1 with Mali, on Friday night (26) at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium, in Rabat (Morocco), in a game valid for the second round of the group stage of the African Cup of Nations. The Atlas Lions are Brazil’s first opponents in the 2026 World Cup.
After this result, Morocco lost the opportunity to guarantee early qualification for the round of 16 of the competition. The team led by coach Walid Regragui now leads Group A with four points, two more than their next opponent, the Zambia team.
In this Friday’s match, the Atlas Lions opened the scoring with a goal from a penalty kick by Brahim Díaz. Also from a penalty kick, the Mali team equalized the score with Sinayoko.
Brazil and Morocco
Morocco is Brazil’s first opponent in Group C of the 2026 World Cup. The match will be on June 13th at MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey, at 7pm (Brasília time).
In the second round, Brazil faces Haiti at Lincoln Financial Field, in Philadelphia, at 10pm. The end of the first phase is scheduled for June 24th, against Scotland, at the Hard Rock Stadium, in Miami, at 7pm.
