A report from Fourth Power revealed that the office of the Minister of Education, Morgan Queroused the Minedu Chica Fund to pay for acquisitions that do not correspond to any urgent need of the sector, such as shirts, cookies, blouses and vests.
Quero assumed the position on April 1, 2024 and, a few days later, purchases of shirts and poles with public resources have already been recorded.
This practice was repeated on several occasions, accumulating invoices for personal garments, including blouses and vests, in addition to a vaporizer and a righteous peel for clothing care.
The Ministry justified that these acquisitions are part of the “official protocol.” However, the ballots detail that they were directly for the minister.
Quero’s office also authorized constant purchases of soda cookies, mint, vanilla, chocolate and even orange. Only in April 2024, three bills added more than 400 soles; In December, another reached 335 soles in cookies.
In total, 3,094 cookie packages have been acquired, in addition to coffee, nuts, water, soda, jamaica flower and olive oil, with an expense that exceeds 8,300 soles.
To consume these products, dishes, glasses, jugs, salt shakers and cutlery were bought, in addition to a microwave and an electric boil, with a cost close to 1,600 soles.
They also appear in the records of constant purchases of toilet paper, wet wipes and scarves, supplies that normally cover other administrative areas of the ministry.
What did the Minedu respond?
Through a statement, the Minedu argued that the products were acquired for the attention of official meetings and that the clothes correspond to the “protocol endowment” of the addresses.
However, the reviewed documents indicate that the garments were for the direct use of the minister.
