Sheinbaum asks the ‘structure’ of Morena not to promote choice
A day after the Electoral Court gave the green light so that public officials can promote the judicial election, President Claudia Sheinbaum called to vote.
“For the first time in the history of Mexico, for the first time we are going to choose the Judiciary, that means democracy: it is the power of the people. So all to go out to participate this June 1 and exercise our right to choose the ministers and ministers of the Court,” said April 10 during an event to commemorate the 106th anniversary of Emiliano Zapata.
Even the federal president criticized the INE for not letting her speak before about the participation exercise:
“We are going to vote! I can say it because as for a week they put me a ‘Zipper’, so, not to mention the election to judges, magistrates, magistrates, ministers, ministers,” he said during the act in Morelos.
However, in her morning of April 21, the president asked the “structure” of Morena not to promote the judicial election, because the INE determined that political parties cannot promote such elections.
-There are senators of the Morena party who are touring their states with the assumption that they are promoting the judicial election, but they are doing it accompanied by Morena officials, he was asked in his conference.
“Well, they should not, (…) Morena and political parties were asked not to promote the election, which should also be seen, right? Because I believe that all citizens, every Mexican, Mexican has the right to say: ‘On June 1, there will be an election to the Judiciary’, different if they support one or another candidate, “he said.
“And the legislative power, senators and senators were allowed, who also promoted the election, without promoting one another candidate. So, well, we must tell those who are part of the Morena structure that no, even if they want to promote, to do so, because the INE proposed it.”
It must be avoided, Sheinbaum emphasized on Monday, that the structures of all parties promote the choice because the INE arranged.

The minister and candidate for the same position, Loretta Ortiz, accused on Monday that the National Electoral Institute (INE) has “been left” to the citizenship, since she has not encouraged or broadcast enough information for the participation of the voters.
“I have observations with what the INE has done. I had to concentrate its efforts to disseminate the process and inform the date of the choice and the way of voting and not occupying so much time in formalisms. That is the complaint,” he said.
“All roads close, that if the informative forums are not so, that if they must be ‘roasted’, that they must have this, that if they cannot do so, that is, nor to pay taxes there are so many difficulties,” he added during an activity of flying in the historic center of the CDMX.
Ortiz said that the promotion of the vote by the INE was late, so, the minister warned, that about 30 percent of citizens do not know that there will be an election in June.
“Even the president of the Republic filed a complaint, also in my case that did not let the federal or local authorities participate in promoting the vote, that is, how that is understood, how to put obstacles,” he added.
On the weekend, the minister – identified as related to Morena – also said that whoever calls not to participate in the judicial election is not only giving “drowning kicks”, but is being unfair with her country.
“The call to not vote is an act of disloyalty with Mexico, is wanting, for anger, hurt the sovereignty of their own nation; Mexicans must freely make political decisions within the country,” he said.
Candidates for ministers are by votes of unions
At the same time, some Court contenders seek to “tie” votes and capture the greatest possible support for the election of June 1, through meetings with unions and union organizations.
Applicants such as the ministers Loretta Ortiz and Yasmín Esquivel, both related to Morena, Judge Zulema Mosri and Professor Aristides Guerrero, already held meetings with railroads, teachers, workers, doctors, peasants and even actors.
The elections will be held on Sunday June 1 . The boxes will open at 8:00 and close at 6:00 p.m. In total, 881 judicial charges will be chosen:
- 9 ministers and ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN).
- 2 Magistrates of the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Court of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF).
- 15 Magistratures of the Regional Rooms of the TEPJF.
- 5 Magistrates of the Judicial Discipline Court.
- 464 circuit magistrates.
- 386 Judges and district judges.
The campaigns started on Sunday, March 30, will last 60 days and will end on May 28. Then it will begin a period of reflection or electoral closure, which covers the three days prior to the election day.
