The tenth plenary meeting of the Morena parliamentary group in the Senate, this Tuesday, will be one of the shortest ever held: it will barely last six hours, instead of the usual two days.
Due to political times and the early disclosures of Morena’s presidential candidates, the senators of that party only invited the three caps regularly mentioned by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
For this occasion, the secretaries who attend the plenary session of the majority group in the Upper House, such as those of Education, Health, Energy, Public Safety, Social Welfare, Tourism, Infrastructure and Communications and Transport or Environment, among others, were not summoned. others.
Only two secretaries of the federal cabinet will now participate, in their capacity as potential candidates for the presidency of the Republic: the Governor, Adán Augusto López Hernández, and the chancellor Marcelo Ebrard, as well as the head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum.
The order of presentation is expected as follows: López Hernández, Sheinbaum and Ebrard. Each guest will have one hour to present their projects. Afterwards, the senators will work on the issues on the parliamentary agenda and the hundred appointments they have pending.
Among the issues lagging behind in this House are the minutes of the Care Law, the Forced Displacement Law, and the constitutional reform to prohibit marriages between minors under 18 years of age, for example.
The Senate still has pending appointments, such as three members of the Technical Education Council of the National Commission for the Continuous Improvement of Education; the appointment of 22 magistrates of local electoral courts in 18 entities, and the appointment of two commissioners of the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data.
The appointment of a magistrate of the regional chamber of the Federal Court of Administrative Justice, five magistrates of regional chambers of the Electoral Court of the Judicial Power of the Federation and two members of the Governing Board of the Institute for the Protection of Bank Savings are also in the portfolio. , among others.
