“The powers of the General Directorate of Professions and of the university authorities that issued the professional degree to carry out the annulment of the registration of the professional title and revocation of the certificate of exercise with patent effects, prescribe in a period of five years from from obtaining the professional license with patent effects”, indicates the text presented by the deputy.
The initiative is presented within the framework of the plagiarism committed by Minister Yasmín Esquivel for her undergraduate thesis. Which, up to now, has led to the dismissal of Martha Rodríguez Ortiz, advisor to the minister’s titling work.
Both the UNAM and the SEP have issued statements stating that they do not have the jurisdiction to withdraw the title and ID from the minister, despite the fact that it has already been determined that there was plagiarism. Both institutions point out that it is the job of the other to make the withdrawal.
Robles Gómez pointed out that the Esquivel case is not the only one of its kind that has been presented and pointed to those of former presidents Enrique Peña Nieto and Vicente Fox.
