Morena presents an initiative to guarantee the universal vote of Mexicans residing abroad

Morena in the Permanent Commission of the Congress of the Union presented an initiative to guarantee the right of compatriots abroad to vote in the elections of federal deputies and participate in processes of revocation of the mandate of the President of the Republic.
Carmen Bautista, a Morenista deputy, on behalf of her bench partner Olga Leticia Chávez, presented the reform to article 329 of the General Law of Electoral Institutions and Processes to recognize the right to vote of Mexican citizens, regardless of their residence in the world, in accordance with the principle of universality in this matter, based on article 35 of the Constitution.

During her presentation at the last session of the Permanent Commission, the legislator pointed out that, irrefutably, the migrant right to vote is restricted in the legislation because, although it is regulated at the federal level for the election of the President of the Republic and the senators, does not apply to federal deputies.
