In the Chamber of Deputies, the analysis of the economic package for 2023 will begin immediately, which is expected to be voted on no later than November, reported Morena. The PRI announced that it will vote against the spending proposal since it reduces resources for medicines and road construction, but increases those destined to pay interest on the debt acquired by this government.

The PAN, for its part, considered that the government’s approach is too optimistic and unrealistic by betting on economic growth of 2.4 percent, when specialists have predicted a percentage of 1.6 or 1.8.

PAN deputy Héctor Saúl Téllez, secretary of the Budget Commission in San Lázaro, said that the government’s financing will be through public debt, contrary to what President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has said.

He added that it is worrying that a debt ceiling of one billion 176 million pesos is estimated for 2023, that is, a nominal difference of 260 thousand 558 million compared to 2022, which represents a difference of 22 percent.

Téllez stressed that the spending policy will continue to grant budget sufficiency to priority projects, while in other areas such as health, security and education no real growth is seen. He added that his bench will seriously study the economic package to propose changes and that the priorities of the population be taken care of.

For its part, the national leadership of the PRI explained that the expenditure budget project will not be supported because it reduces resources for the purchase of medicines and the construction of highways in most states. In addition, more money is used to pay interest on the debt than to social programs.

He stressed that in the economic package, current spending increases three times, which shows the false austerity of the government.

After estimating that “Morena once again turns her back on Mexican families, she pointed out that more resources are allocated to the Mayan Train than to the attention of urgent problems such as the lack of medicines.

The deputies of Morena, Erasmo González, and of the PVEM, Luis Armando Melgar, reported that the analysis of the Executive’s proposal begins immediately, after describing the package as realistic and balanced between income and expenses.

They also pointed out that the package is responsible and is aimed at the well-being of families.
