A two-party opposition yesterday stopped the discussion and vote in the Chamber of Deputies on the constitutional reform opinion on electoral matters proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador: on the one hand, the dispute between the PT and the PVEM with Morena; on the other, the rejection of PRI, PAN and PRD.

Petistas and greens complained that Morena did not take them into account for the drafting of the opinion on the reform of the Constitution nor has she consulted them for the initiative project, known as plan B.

Faced with this scenario, the cherry bench decided to delay the discussion of the reform for a week. The coordinator of the Green, Carlos Puente Salas, went further and slipped that, in order not to be subject to to a straitjacketit would be preferable to postpone the changes to the secondary legislation until February 2023 and make it in the neatest way possible.

The coordinator of Morena, Ignacio Mier, stated that deputies from other parties had asked him since Monday more time to internalize the content of the ruling, which was only publicized yesterday. PT and PVEM revealed, each on their own, that it was the majority leader who asked to change the date.

In public, the PVEM coordinator, Carlos Puente Salas, denied that he had negotiated his votes in the dark In exchange for the reform that seeks to discount the installments of credits contracted by the workers on the payroll, the well-known delegated collectionand that fell due to the opposition of Morena.

In short, however, Puente acknowledged that his caucus will vote in favor of the constitutional reform because it is guaranteed to be thrown out. The Green, like the PT, the constitutional amendment would affect them with a reduction in funding and legislators.

Puente claimed that Mier informed him that some fellow deputies had doubts on the constitutional reform and asked for the new term. In an almost simultaneous press conference, the PT confirmed that it was Mier who called his legislators with the same argument.

Deputies from Morena pointed out that there was an attempt to blackmail the Green, in exchange for approving the abusive collection of payroll credits.

Things in San Lázaro are not easy for Morena, so much so that to send a message of unity, Mier published a photo with the heads of PT and PVEM: The usual crickets want to divide us. Here I leave this photo of the coalition to make the opposition burn (sic) more.

The PAN members, in a conference, demanded an explanation from Morena and that the opinion be voted on yesterday. Today today Today!they chanted. The party’s general secretary, Cecilia Patrón, said that even with the new date, her party will be here firm; if we have to eat the Christmas turkey here, we do it like that.

In turn, the national leader of the PRI, Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas, explained that Morena postponed the vote on the reform because He obviously does not have the votes of the opposition, but he does not have those of his allies either.even to remove the plan Bof changes to the electoral legislation.

He stressed that he is going through Mexico prevented Morena from having two thirds of the votes to pass the initiative of the President and together, as a block, we stop this harmful reform and save the National Electoral Institute and the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary.

Rubén Moreira, coordinator of the PRI bench, affirmed that the vote against his party it is not on a whim and we are proud of our votes in the past constitutional reforms on electricity and the National Guard.

Luis Espinosa, coordinator of the PRD, also evaluated that in the majority coalition there is a disagreement that led them to back down. We are ready to vote it down now and also next week.
