Morena intends for the reform to the Judicial Branch to be approved at the end of September, so that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador can publish it in the Official Journal of the Federation before her term ends, announced the coordinator of the senators of the cherry party, Ricardo Monreal, who accused the president of the Supreme Court, Norma Piña, of trying to break up the eighth forum for analysis of that initiative in matters of justice.
This happened after a group of workers from that branch of government organized a protest in Saltillo, Coahuila, during the penultimate forum on the reform, and, according to what Congressman Leonel Godoy later reported, they attacked two of his colleagues in the party.
During yesterday’s session of the Permanent Commission, deputies and senators from Morena and allies asked the president of that body of Congress, Ana Lilia Rivera, to use her powers and send a letter to Piña asking him to prevent workers of the Judicial Branch from going to the forums to provoke and attack legislators of the cherry-colored party, as happened the previous day in Saltillo, Coahuila.
Earlier, in an interview, Monreal said that Minister Piña is making a final effort to radicalize the situation so that the reform is not approved. He stressed that at the event there was no security personnel to guarantee tranquility and traffic. The legislators were exposed, since there were shouts and violence, and the Court has a responsibility for this.
Specifically, Monreal blamed Piña because she was the one who granted permission for the workers to not work and not have the day discounted.
On the other hand, Monreal explained that today the National dialogues for the reform of the Judiciary
in Sinaloa, so that, from August 12 to 18, the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies can formulate the corresponding opinion.
He said that the new legislature is expected to begin discussing the reform on September 2, so that the process in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate will be concluded in the second week of that month, and the project will be sent to the state congresses, all before September 30.
