After a twelve-hour session, the Third Morena Congress concluded in the early hours of this Sunday, in which Alfonso Durazo Montaño swore in as the new president of the National Council and 10 of the 15 new members of the National Executive Committee (CEN) responsible for drive to the party.
These appointments were accompanied by the extension of the mandate, until October 2024, of Delgado Carrillo and Secretary General Citlalli Hernández, in order to “not contaminate” the organization of the presidential election with an internal process. The election and renewal of the National Council and the reform of its basic documents (statute, action program and declaration of principles) were also carried out, which were specified by Morena after seven years of not carrying out the statutory renewal of bodies.
However, the Congress was held with challenges pending resolution before the National Commission of Honesty and Justice (CNHyJ) and the Electoral Court of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF).
According to the law, the National Electoral Institute (INE) must review and, where appropriate, declare the constitutional and legal origin of the modifications to the party statutes. It must also be pending the resolution of the Electoral Court so that the new statutes and basic documents, as well as the appointments, can enter into force when they are registered with the INE.
However, the president of the Morena board of directors, Tomás Pliego, declared at the close of the Morena Congress the “automatic” entry into force of all the resolutions assumed by that party.
Unity and impartiality
“Let nothing divide us brothers and sisters, let us favor unity, that is our strength. Our great litmus test is coming,” asked Mario Delgado.
“The fact that our party has several leaderships that can give continuity to the project of our president Andrés Manuel López Obrador should not be a reason for division, but for strength; let it be a fraternal competition”, added the leader.
Delgado reiterated to the new members of the CEN that, towards 2024, they have the responsibility to “behave impartially and institutionally.”
“We have to apply ourselves, very intense times are coming, we have to work in a very committed way, in unity, with a democratic vocation and invariably thinking about the well-being, in the general interest of Mexicans,” said Alfonso Durazo, governor of Sinaloa. .
We congratulate the new President of the National Council and the new members of the National Executive Committee of @PartidoMorenaMx. We will work together for the aggrandizement of our party until we win again in 2023 and 2024. We will not let you down! pic.twitter.com/5vzNcbLkW0
