“This decalogue will be signed starting October 1 and for 100 days by all state and municipal authorities emanating from our movement,” he said.
One of the actions that López Obrador promoted during his government and that is in the Decalogue is that no one earns more than the President of the Republic, since he sent initiatives to reform the Constitution and prevent officials from having a higher salary than the head of the federal Executive.
Another action that the Tabasco native promoted and that is now in the Decalogue is the citizen consultations. On some occasions the president took the opinion –by show of hands– of the attendees at his events.
Another thing is that during his government he assured that nepotism and cronyism had been eliminated; that is, the assignment of positions to friends and family in the public sector.
Decalogue:
- Morena’s public servants owe their allegiance to the people and must be loyal to them. They address their claims in weekly hearings
- When there is doubt, conflict or a difficult decision, the people are consulted.
- The destination of public resources is reported periodically and transparently.
- There is a Republican Austerity Plan, which includes eliminating privileges for public officials. No public official should earn more than the president.
- Corruption is not tolerated. There is no room for nepotism, cronyism, influence peddling; no free riders.
- There are equal numbers of men and women in government teams, and opportunities are given to young people.
- Public resources, public investment in infrastructure and programs are always focused on those who have the least.
- Public services are strengthened and not privatized. Nature and natural reserves are respected above private interests.
- In no case is the police used to repress the people and there is a dividing line with organized crime.
- Power is exercised with humility. There is no room for banalities.
