The Morena and PT benches in the Chamber of Deputies expressed their support for the Michoacán Plan, presented on Sunday by the federal government, considering that it is “a timely response to the security emergency” in that state.
Morena’s coordinator, Ricardo Monreal, expressed that this not only includes “a comprehensive vision”, but also periodic evaluations and a strategy with more than 100 programmatic actions and citizen participation in monitoring their compliance, which “makes the President’s plan radically different.”
For this reason, he declared, it contrasts with the improvisation, demagoguery and superficiality of the plans implemented during the neoliberal period, which never addressed the root problem and impunity in Michoacán.
The cherry bench will be pending whether the application of this mechanism, as it develops, needs to modify a general law; “whatever Michoacán requires,” highlighted the legislator.
In turn, the coordinator of the PT, Reginaldo Sandoval Flores, pointed out that the announced strategy “does not seek repression, but social reconstruction. When the problem is understood, it is based on a precise and profound diagnosis that recognizes the complexity of the phenomenon of violence and the need to address it with a humanistic vision. When the root of the problems is understood, reality can be transformed.”
He considered that the sum of institutional efforts and citizen participation will allow sustaining a lasting peace strategy for the state.
In contrast, the PAN coordinator, Elías Lixa, insisted that in the 2026 Expenditure Budget “no additional weight is allocated” to the state.
“We wish success in the pacification missions, but we must warn that they do not allocate resources to such a relevant issue. We said it in the budget discussion, there cannot be Plan Michoacán without money to execute. It seems to me that it is a speech of good intentions, if it does not have due financial support for the municipalities and the police,” he said.
