More than two thousand people are candidates for Justices of the Peace in Aragua

To advance the consolidation of a popular justice system, which seeks conciliation through communal organization, a total of 2,360 candidates are running in Aragua, to opt for election as justices of the peace, in the elections on the 15th. of December.

The information was offered by the National Electoral Commissioner, Pedro Infante, during an event held in the Santiago Mariño municipality (Turmero), where he specified that 1,128 justices of the peace will be elected in the entity, in the 191 communal circuits that comprise it.

“Throughout the country we are going to elect more than 30 thousand judges of the peace, so that the world can see the true democracy that is exercised in Venezuela, there are more than 52 thousand 800 candidates who are campaigning at this moment, for 30 “Thousand positions, it is the people made power, it is the people exercising their sovereignty,” said Infante, who described the election of the justices of the peace as a historical and unprecedented event.

The electoral campaign has already started

During a session of the Bolivarian Legislative Council of the state of Aragua (Cleba), deputy Marla Velásquez, indicated that the candidates have already begun to carry out their electoral campaigns in the different communal circuits of the entity, where they inform the community about the powers of communal judges, the laws that govern them, ordinances and powers, among which are the issuance of final sentences.

Election in accordance with the Constitution

In response to sectors linked to the opposition, who describe the election as illegal, the president of the Aragüeño parliament, Mayor José Arias, highlighted the importance of the elections for the selection of justices of the peace through citizen participation, which is He is attached to the legal precepts established in the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela: “the opposition says out there that this is illegal, but they don’t read it. Our judges will be elected in accordance with the Constitution,” he stated.

Arias specified that the justices of the peace will be elected for a period of three years, and will be in charge of promoting coexistence and respect for human rights in society, encouraging the resolution of conflicts in a peaceful manner that is close to the population.
