Some seven million 419 thousand 135 people in Cuba received until today the complete schedule of vaccination against Covid-19, three doses conceived in the program and the single injection in the case of convalescents.
This was reported this Friday by the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) and stressed that this figure represents 66.3 percent of the entire Cuban population (approximately 11 million 180 thousand).
The Minsap pointed out that at the close of November 3, a total of 26 million seven thousand 239 administered doses of the immunogens developed in the country Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala have been accumulated.
The first two designed by the FInlay Vaccine Institute and applied in a heterologous scheme of 0-28 and 56 days and the last, by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology whose administrations are separated at intervals of 14 days.
The Minsap reported that to date 10 million two thousand 14 people have received at least one dose of one of those Cuban vaccines, of which eight million 985 thousand 178 people already have a second dose and the third seven million 20 thousand 47.
With these statistics, the Caribbean nation ranks first in Latin America to apply the initial dose in the anti-Covid-19 immunization with more than 88.8 percent of all its inhabitants with the first injection; followed by Chile (86.06) and Uruguay (79.32), revealed the international statistics site Our World In Data at its close on the 2nd of this month.
The table of that portal also shows Cuba as the first in the world that places the most doses per 100 people with 229.19, since a person can receive more than one anti-Covid-19 injection, including booster injections.
The objective of the Caribbean island is to conclude this November with 90 percent of Cubans who have completed their vaccination schedule.
For this, in addition to the mass immunization campaign in adults, Cuba was the first country to initiate an anti-Covid-19 in children from two to 18 years old with Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus.
Official data indicate that more than a million Cuban children already have the second dose of Soberana 02.
Likewise, the Abdala vaccine was recently authorized by the Cuban regulatory entity to also be used in infants from two to 11 years old.
According to Our World In Data, 50 percent of the world’s population received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
In total 7.19 billion doses were administered worldwide and are now being administered at the rate of 29.33 million each day.
