The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), announced that to date more than one million establishments and premises have been registered throughout the country, within the framework of the first phase of the V National Economic Census (CENEC), which began in April of this year. For this work, 1,918 census officials have traveled, who collect the information through digital forms using a tablet.
It should be noted that the V CENEC is executed in two stages that include the National Census of Establishments that culminates in the month of August; and the National Survey of Large, Medium and Small Companies that will be carried out between the months of June and November 2022.
More than 818,000 establishments are in operation
According to the information collected, more than 818,000 establishments visited are in operation, and approximately 200,000 are closed temporarily, permanently, unoccupied and others are premises for rent.

13% of establishments did not operate in 2020
According to the data obtained to date in the V CENEC, 13% of the establishments visited did not operate in 2020 and 61.2% did so partially.
Meanwhile, 72.1% of commercial companies reported that they did not operate normally during the first year of the pandemic (2020). In manufacturing companies, this percentage reached 80.1% and in services, 78.2%.
96.5% of registered establishments belong to microenterprises
According to company size, 96.5% of establishments visited are part of micro companies, 2.8% small companies, 0.2% medium-sized companies and 0.5% large companies.
It should be noted that, of the total registered establishments belonging to microenterprises, 67.2% are dedicated to commercial activities, 28.4% to services and 4.4% to manufacturing. Meanwhile, of the establishments of the large company, 51.2% corresponds to commercial establishments, 40.1% to services and 8.7% to manufacturing.
Commercial activities
On the other hand, it has also been detected, so far, that 67% of the registered establishments carry out commercial activities, 28.6% service activities and 4.4% manufacturing activities.
31% of registered commercial establishments correspond to warehouses, 24% of service establishments are restaurants, and 21% of establishments dedicated to manufacturing activities carry out garment-making activities.
