More than half a million Dominicans are prevented from traveling

LAS AMERICAS AIRPORT. More than half a million Dominicans and some fourteen thousand foreigners residing in the country, are prevented from leaving the national territory, for various reasons and facts, reveal data obtained in this airport terminal.

Among those prevented from leaving the country, there are people from different social strata, influential businessmen, people linked to the financial sector, active and retired members of the Armed Forces and the Police, political leaders and former government officials.

Among the reasons why the Attorney General of the RepublicSupreme Court of Justice, judges from different jurisdictions place impediments to Dominicans and foreigners from leaving the country, including acts of corruption, fraud, business bankruptcy, money laundering, Litis for possession of property and others.

For the execution of the impediments to leave the country against Dominican citizens, the judicial authorities send communication to the General Directorate of Migration, most of the notifications through the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic.

The sources that provided the data to journalists from this medium at the Las Américas airport also said that there are many impediments to leaving the country that no longer have a reason to exist, because the reasons have expired.

“However, they remain active in the Migration files, many times due to the carelessness of the affected people who do not do any type of management for their removal,” explained the informants, urging those affected to go to the Attorney General’s Office. .

In relation to foreigners against whom there are also measures to prevent them from leaving the country, many of them have litigation for business, sale of property, expropriation of assets, child support, among other facts.

They include Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Curaçao, Venezuelans, Colombians, North Americans, Canadians, Spanish, Germans, French and other nationalities, according to reports.
