To prevent robberies in the eight provinces of the region; Chief of the Piura Police Region, PNP General Manuel Farías Zapata, announced that more than 5,000 police officers will be on high alert during the days of Fiestas Patrias.
“We have taken precautions to be alert during these National Holidays,” said Farías Zapata.
The police high command stated that more than 5,000 police officers have been deployed in the Piura region to protect the population and thus prevent assaults and robberies in homes, whose owners take advantage of these dates to travel with their families.
“We are on high alert so that our personnel can provide guarantees and security. There are more than 5,000 police officers in the Piura region who have been on high alert for several days, but in the city of Piura alone there are more than 1,800 police officers who are on alert to provide security with police personnel from various departments such as the Special Services Unit (USE), Green Squadron and Los Halcones,” said Farías Zapata.

The police high command stressed that they will soon launch programs such as “El Escuadrón Churre” and “Rondas Campesinas.”
“We are close to launching programs to benefit citizens such as El Escuadrón Churre, Rondas Campesinas, and QR codes for motorcycle taxi drivers so they can be identified,” Farías Zapata said.
For its part, the National Police of Peru (PNP), through the Tourism Police, recommends that national and foreign tourists choose formal tourist accommodation and transportation services, because these are inspected and supervised by the competent authorities.
They also advise visitors to follow the recommended tourist routes approved by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism and to carry only the luggage and money necessary for the trip.
