Santo Domingo. – The call for the 2023 National Single Medical Residency Exam welcomed this Sunday 5,031 applicant doctors, who apply to carry out their medical residency through the Ministry of Public Health and other areas, according to Ylario Reyes Pérez, general director of Medical Residences.
Reyes Pérez defined as successful the event that greatly benefits the Dominican Health System and especially the population.
´´Today we have the presence of five thousand requesting doctors, 40 for dentistry and the rest for general medicine, already started the process we took a tour of the classrooms to personally verify the effective development of the application and we can say that in this installment we have Seeing how some problems that traditionally occurred when applying for the residency exam have decreased, all this has been forgotten, this has been a successful process and we hope for the best results,” highlighted Dr. Reyes Pérez.
He specified that the main objective of the Examination is to ensure that the greatest number of professionals are admitted, in order to participate in the Medical Residency Program and that the Ministry of Public Health makes the necessary efforts so that the professionals applicants are the most qualified.
For his part, George Soto, representing the Dominican Medical Association, positively qualified the development of the Unique Residency Examination this Sunday, ´´The level of complaints is absent, before the complaints were related to the structuring of the questions, now not This situation has arisen, which is why we value it as successful.”
While Dr. Samuel Montero García, director of Medical Residences of the Armed Forces and Member of the National Council of Medical Residencies He stated that ´´The day has been carried out with transparency, it has been a didactic exam, well written for the feedback of the students, the negativity that we had had throughout history has been abolished´´.
Places available
The Ministry of Public Health this year will have 1,259 places available to be filled by professionals in different specialties, with the purpose of continuing to promote improvement in the care process of Dominican medicine.
The Exam represents one of the most important achievements in the last 50 years in terms of Health for the Dominican Republic. The opening act this year had the participation of the Magnificent Rector of the UASD, teacher Edistrudy Beltrán among other personalities and specialists of Dominican medicine.
Last year, 17 medical residences were opened in hospitals in the different provinces of the country, in areas such as obstetrics, gynecology, emergency, general surgery, family and community medicine, pediatrics, orthopedics, among others, all with the coordination and collaboration of the Dominican Medical College and the different universities.
