Santo Domingo. – The Program of Essential and Central Medicines of Logistic Support (PROMESE/CAL) has executed more than RD $ 52,170 million in public purchases under the direction of Adolfo Pérez, in processes developed with high transparency standards.

Between August 20 and June 2025, the institution carried out 1,208 processes for the acquisition of essential medicines, high cost and miscellaneous products, all made in strict adherence to Law 340-06 on public purchases and contracts.
Another outstanding achievement during the five years of Pérez’s management was the expansion of the People’s Pharmacies Network. 108 new establishments were enabled, raising the number of pharmacies throughout the country to 653, including communities that did not have pharmaceutical service before. “Today, more than five million Dominicans benefit from the people’s pharmacies,” said the official.
Pérez explained that only in 2024 the people’s pharmacies generated a collective savings of approximately RD $ 5,800 million, comparing the prices of the 30 -demanded medications with the most economical in the private sector.
In addition, the government of President Luis Abinader increased by 100% the budget for promise/CAL for the purchase of medicines and medical supplies used in hospital care of the public sector. The budget went from RD $ 1,568 million in 2022 to RD $ 3,176 million in 2023, strengthening the response capacity of the health system.
Through its social programs, Promse/CAL has benefited more than 100,000 patients with few resources with free medications to treat diseases such as diabetes, bipolarity, schizophrenia, Parkinson’s Parkinson, hemophilia and acute myocardial infarction, among others.
