With the aim of reinserting young people and adolescents into the educational system, the Ministry of Security together with other entities carry out the program “Finding the Right Path” with which, according to the director of Citizen Security of the entity, Marlin Tello, have currently managed to help 1,037 young people and adolescents nationwide.
Of the total number of young people included in the program, 221 were women and 816 were men.
Tello stressed that this preventive program allows these young people to continue and complete their studies with a bachelor’s degree and a technical certification to insert them into the labor market.
He said that to be part of this program, young people must go to the nearest police station and they will be guided there. He revealed that the largest number of beneficiaries come from areas such as Juan Díaz, Pacora, Coclé, Los Santos, David and Puerto Armuelles, province of Chiriquí.
These young people also receive psychosocial interventions, with the aim of strengthening family structures and emotional health. After this process, an upright citizen with values and discipline is returned to society.
He assured that adolescents in a situation of social risk are very vulnerable, so through the program the comprehensive baccalaureate is taught, as well as a combination of police doctrine, they are trained in first aid, basic rescue, and they are provided the necessary tools for them to be able to continue their university studies and in some cases, many of them join a public force such as the National Police, the National Aeronaval Service or the National Border Service.
“We also have young people who have graduated as pilots, as lawyers and many other professions,” Tello said, emphasizing that they are motivated to continue their studies and have the tools to face the future.
