Some 1,152 firearms of various calibers are destroyed this Friday, March 31, during the third ceremony held in 2023, at the National Police headquarters, located in the township of Ancón.
These are 1,052 revolvers, 41 pistols, 26 shotguns, 20 rifles, 1 rifle, 6 pellets, 2 nipples, 2 carbines and 2 submachine guns that have been seized in various operations nationwide.
Additionally, 911 suppliers and 278 accessories from the Pacifying My Neighborhood Program are destroyed.
This destruction of weapons is added to other actions carried out by the National Police in conjunction with the other security forces and the Public Ministry to guarantee peaceful coexistence and reduce crime.
The weapons are guarded by units of the National Arms Directorate and destroyed at the Weapons Destruction Center located at the National Police headquarters, complying with the stipulated security procedures.
With this destruction of weapons, there are 34 ceremonies that are carried out in the current administration of President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, reaching 30,915 firearms, 470,691 ammunition and 7,323 suppliers.
The National Police continues with various preventive and operational actions to remove firearms from circulation and prevent them from being used in criminal activities.
