More than a hundred publishers and bookstores participate in the International Book Fair

Santo Domingo. – With more than one hundred publishers and bookstores participating in its twenty-fourth edition, the Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2022 has arranged a true literary and cultural banquet for the public that visits the Colonial City, where the event is held until next May 2 .

A total of 165 exhibitors, including publishers, bookstores, foundations and independent writers, have occupied emblematic spaces in the historic center of Santo Domingo to offer an extensive catalog of literary productions, as well as audiovisual products.

Visitors to the fair will enjoy an exciting tour of the booths strategically located in the Ozama Fortress and along Las Damas Street, until they reach Plaza España.

In this way, FILSD 2022 offers a great opportunity for the intellectual enrichment of both the specialized public and new readers, who will be able to acquire publications on various topics, such as art, education, history, politics, religion and children’s content, among many others. others.

Juan Báez, coordinator of exhibitors, affirms that this cultural event is, at the same time, a space for exchange of great impact for the literary industry, where the public, writers and publishers interact.

Precisely, one of the novelties of FILSD 2022 is the provision of a business center in which international literary agents and publishers will meet to promote and monetize the creativity of our writers.

This year the FILSD has the participation of 104 international publishing houses, among which are Grupo Planeta, Grupo Norma and Alfaguara.

“Most of the international publishers that have come have agreed to meet with independent Dominican authors and publishers to study what locally produced materials can be published abroad, that is, we have the project that the Dominican author at this fair be able to see their works published by foreign publishers”, explained Báez.

With this novelty, the Ministry of Culture reaffirms its support for the publishing industry at a local and regional level, whose representatives have expressed their great enthusiasm and expectations for the realization of this fair.

About the 2022 Book Fair
With the motto “Come to the book”, the FILSD 2022 is dedicated to the Dominican writers Carmen Natalia and Pedro Peix, and has the European Union as a special guest.

One of the main objectives of the event is to promote reading and literary activity in all its fields as part of a new process of citizen construction, in which freedom, equality and identity constitute the analytical and normative axes for the empowerment of the citizenship.
