More than a hundred black-necked swans are incinerated due to avian influenza in Valdivia

More than a hundred black-necked swans have had to be cremated after being found dead or with symptoms of bird flu in the Carlos Anwandter Nature Sanctuary in Valdivia, Los Ríos region.

Specifically, a team made up of officials from the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG), the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf) and various scientists from the Austral University, are working within a two-kilometer radius of the aforementioned sanctuary in a confirmed focus of the disease. for its containment.

Also, the agency did not rule out that bird flu could become a permanent situation in the sanctuary, depending on viral circulation. In view of the above, it is projected that monitoring in the protected sector will be for a period of three years.
